Western Primary Invitational (West Champs)

 

The championship has been held continuously for over 60 years and has produced some of the world’s top athletes. Some of which include; Usain Bolt, Bridgitte Foster-Hilton, Sherika Williams , Lanford Spence, Trisha Smith, Kaliese Spencer and more recently World Junior Champion, Dexter Lee. With 42 high schools in the region and a combined population of 50,000,this region accounts for over 50% of all Jamaica’s medals at the Olympics and World Games. The event spanned over three (3) days with the grand final at The Herbert Morrison Technical High School on February 20th 2010.

 

On June 11,2011, the event was held at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay. 19 schools participated in the various events which included long jump, the sprints and relays.
